Exchange Servers Setup >> adding exchange server to existing site

Could use some help. I am adding a second email server to
our site. We are running exchange 5.5 sp4 on an NT 4
domain. When I try to run setup on the new server to
install exchange, the install aborts with this error. The
microsoft mail e-mail address for the site is required for
this operation, but has been removed from the site object.
Use raw properties to edit the site object and replace the
microsoft mail e-mail address. ID no: c1030b3a. I have
found only one article in all my searches of tech net and
the web. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 248425 This
does not seem to apply to me since I am not installing a
service pack on my original server. My original server is
not running ms mail. Is ms mail required to add a second
server to my site? If so can I rerun setup and install the
ms mail connector. I am currently using x400 by default
and smtp. Thank you

Exchange Servers Setup >> adding exchange server to existing site I would definitely go for that article though, even though you are not
applying the service pack - you might have a MSMAIL type address in Site
Addressing.

Exchange Servers Setup >> adding exchange server to existing site Thank you for your reply. I had already followed the
directions in the bulletin before this post short of
editing the address site. When I setup the original email
server, I did not install msmail. I left it unchecked
along with CCmail. I was asking if MSmail is required if
I am to have multiple exchange servers in the same site?
Adding an msmail address following the directions in the
bulletin does not make sense to me if I have not
installed msmail previously. Thank you again.

Exchange Servers Setup >> adding exchange server to existing site Well, the problem is - it is in your "site addressing" - therefore it is on
one of the servers, right? If that is the case - the server being installed
needs to have necessary proxy generator DLLs and that is why it is asking
for it...
