A couple of weeks ago Merv recommended I change my DNS settings on my
workstations to point to the SBS server. I'm not implying this was a bad
thing to do but I have noticed that internet connectivity on the
workstations is noticeably slower and I receive 'The page cannot be
displayed 'Cannot find server or DNS Error' messages more frequently since
I made the change. I've also noticed that the pop3 connector is failing
(error 11004 in event log) 2-4 times per day. I have a feeling this is a
performance issue with the SBS server. Anything I can check or do to boost
performance in this area? Additionally, is there a timeout property I can
increase to avoid getting the error messages.
SBS >> DNS issue? with server. Error 11004.
Are you using root hints or forewarders in DNS? Maybe your forewarders are
dodgy DNS servers. I usually us root hints and avoid tying myself to an
ISPs DNS servers.

SBS >> DNS issue? with server. Error 11004.
When you run the ceicw and you get to the screen that says "enter your
ISP dns forwarders" click "No" and the wizard will do root hints instead.

SBS >> DNS issue? with server. Error 11004.
Thanks, I've been looking for this. I've learned that I need to be very
careful when messing around in the DNS area. The wizard is my friend. :)
I'll give it a shot.
