MS Word Doc >> MS Word 2003 Bug with Style Headings
I'm about to go nuts. I'm trying to use the Header styles in MS Word 2003
and every time I create a list of topic headings and heading 3 reaches the
seventh item in that list, Word adds extra space between the item number and
the title (which uses heading 3). No matter what I do, I can't get Word to
behave properly. Things return to normal after the 9th item in the list.
I would attach a screen capture but I'm unable to on this forum.
FYI, I'm using Office 2003 with Service Pack 3 and Windows XP Media Center.
Finally, I'm not creating a list with headings; I'm trying to create headings
for sections in a chapter of a book. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Adjust the number and text position for level 3 (in the Customize Outline
Numbered List dialog box); apparently, some numbers are "too wide" which
forces the text of the paragraph to move to the next *default* tab stop (as
opposed to the custom tab stop defined for level 3). See
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html.

Wow, that was COMPLICATED! I'm glad I asked. After following the directions
on the page you referenced, things worked like a charm. I can't believe out
difficult and counter-intuitive that was though. THANKS again for the GREAT
help!
BTW, I'm having problems posting to this board using IE 6 - windows won't
open to allow me to post this.
THANKS again!
