Microsoft Project >> Updating a baseline

When I update the baseline work hours on a subordinate task within a summary
task in the baseline using the Tracking Gannt and then baseline that selected
task, the totals hours on the summary task does not change. Shouldn't the
change in the subordinate task be reflected in the summary task hours?

Microsoft Project >> Updating a baseline It depends on how you update the baseline. If you change, say, the
subtask's duration and then save a fresh baseline for that task, turning on
the "roll up to summary" checkbox in the Save Baseline dialog screen will
update the resulting changed baseline fields for its summary as well as for
the performance task in question. On the other hand, if you just manually
edit the baseline fields in the performance task, changing it to something
other than the values as calculated from the current schedule when one saves
the baseline normally, the changes will not roll up into the summary. You
can, however, manually edit the summary baseline.
